I Want to go Somewhere and Marvel at Something

I’m a college student stalling as long as possible. my junior to senior year summer I have a plan. It is a marvelous plan- so I think- and I will complete it.

I have made a list of things- crazy, dumb, random, outlandish, one-in-a-lifetime things that I want to complete before I finish college.

I look at it two ways-
1. We are all looking for something. We may have it but none of us are ever completely complete. We have a forever long mission, search really for happiness- and where I am already happy with great friends, amazing family, and a forever long support system- I still want something more. I want to LEARN. That is the first thing- LEARN. I learn from everything right now- my surroundings and opportunities and life lesson- but the thing that pisses me off the most is that everyone else knows something that I don't. I want to learn that something. I want to have that something- or maybe 10 or 20 something’s - that no one else knows about and I want to marvel at them.
2. Cliché- yes. But I am mighty conservative and traditional- no matter how much I try not to be. If I had my druthers I would be some weed-smoking hippie, searching for the meaning for life, who is just ultimately too smart for her surroundings- but I'm not- hints the search for learning more. But I digress. I believe in society and understand the concept of acceptance but It just so happens that college students from the past have found the ability to radically suppress the norm. With that said and with the knowledge that I want all of this done before graduation- I find that the search for ones self is more socially accepted while still in college and not yet on your own. If an older person were to do this- it would be said that they were going through a mid-life crisis. If a college graduate with nothing left to loose searches like so- they are behind the time where they SHOULD be settling down, finding someone, and getting a real job. But a college student- well, that is different. or maybe i am just more okay with the standard of being considered "looking for myself" but that is what we are seen as and really- this spontaneity is no better taken than a student.

With my intentions explained. I want you to come along with me as I journey to somewhere I have never experienced. For six months, a semester off of college, and completely away from my friends or family, I will venture. I will complete my list of death-after-college and I will do it will an open mind and an open heart.

As of right now- I don’t know where I am going, where I am staying, how I am paying, nor how I will get everything accomplished but I need this and if all I do is return with knowledge of something- then that is more than I left with.
